WAIUKU THEATRE GROUP ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH STARJAM FOR MAY 2024 SEASON OF “FOUR FLAT WHITES IN ITALY”
Waiuku Theatre Group, known for its commitment to making performing arts accessible to all, is proud to announce its partnership with StarJam as the Official Charity Partner for its 2-18 May 2024 season production of “Four Flat Whites in Italy” by Sir Roger Hall & Directed by Tremayne Thompson.
As a registered charity, Waiuku Theatre Group has always aimed to support other charitable causes, aligning with its purpose of making performing arts inclusive in the community. When the group learned of StarJam’s urgent need to raise $100,000 within two weeks to continue its invaluable work with young people with disabilities, it knew immediate action was necessary.
StarJam, founded in 2002 by Julie Bartlett, empowers young people with disabilities through the transformative power of music, dance, and performance. The organisation’s vision of a world where people with disabilities are respected, encouraged, and fully included resonated deeply with Waiuku Theatre Group’s mission.
“Our partnership with StarJam reflects our shared values of inclusivity, diversity, and the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to shine,” said Casey Alexander, President at Waiuku Theatre Group. “We are honoured to support StarJam’s important work and ensure that young people with disabilities have the chance to showcase their talents and be celebrated.”
As part of this partnership, Waiuku Theatre Group will donate $1 from every ticket sold for “Four Flat Whites in Italy” to StarJam. Additionally, patrons will have the opportunity to make additional donations online when purchasing tickets or contribute cash donations at the venue.
In a special gesture of support, Waiuku Theatre Group has dedicated its Mother’s Day matinee show to StarJam, with all proceeds from that performance being donated to the organisation.
“We are immensely grateful to Waiuku Theatre Group for their generosity and commitment to our cause,” said Gilli Sinclair, CEO of StarJam. “Together, we will continue to create a world where young people with disabilities are celebrated for their unique talents, and where inclusivity and acceptance thrive.”
